A coastal boutique Pilates studio in Malabar by Studio Gaxa.

Motion Pilates is the latest boutique wellness space to open in the coastal town of Malabar, Sydney NSW. A light filled oasis, providing a calming environment for clients.

Motion Pilates Director Dani, was wanting to expand from a home studio into a signature commercial space. After finding the dream space, Dani reached out to Studio Gaxa Katherine Koulizakis to guide and assist in the development application, liaising with local council, planning and design of the space. Through navigating lockdowns, council and construction certification requirements, Bowerhouse was able to successfully guide Dani with the process of what steps to take to create a dream space for Motion Pilates.

For the design brief, Motion Pilates and Studio Gaxa drew inspiration from its coastal location, which required a focused approach to material selection and space planning. Integrating a minimalistic design with elegant coastal and timber detailing to create a warm, inviting and fluid space.
