By Twin Rivers Interiors
Debbie and Rob have a country home in North Canterbury. They asked Twin Rivers to design a bathroom where occasional use of a wheel chair was important. The bathroom should, of course, have all the features of a luxurious 5-star hotel bathroom and should definitely not look like a hospital bathroom.
We designed a wide entry door for the industrial looking glass shower screen and for the entrance of the bathroom. A custom designed Corian seat is placed in the shower space for times that seating is required while showering and there is an extra shower for normal use. This is a cascade shower head with waterfall and rain shower. The custom designed vanity has a convenient extra hand shower at the basin, a granite top and two seperate basins for her and him, soft close drawers and extra space for storage. An extra point drain was placed in the middle of the bathroom, a council requirement and channel drains were installed in the shower. The beautiful designed tap ware was imported from the Netherlands and has the thermostat fitted within the wall space. The lighting has been chosen for functionality but also to create atmosphere. The new window was finished off with shutters.
Home is not about material things and a shelter, it’s about a feeling of identity and belonging — that is where your heart is.
Twin Rivers Interiors is a European influenced boutique and artisan interior design studio.
Nanda Rammers is constantly innovating in her interior design practice. She travels regularly to the foremost European design expos, sourcing the latest products and trends from the most influential designers in the world.
Her recent trip to Europe, especially Italy, was motivated by making connections with artisans in the textile industry. On her journey she also soaked in the style of living in the provinces, including those inspired by ancient archeological sites. She also spent time with local artists and sculptors, and in retreats. This has furthered her holistic approach to interior design and wellbeing.
She stocks an exclusive range of products from numerous New Zealand and overseas brands, trusting relationships she has built up over the last 10 years with Twin Rivers Interiors.
She has been Programme Leader of the Interior Design programme at Ara, Institute of Canterbury between 2018-2020. She has also recently transformed the residential and commercial interior design programmes for Ara and Open Polytechnic.
She is very much inspired by nature, light and colour, and uses this as an inspiration in her drawings and photography, which she has printed and framed as limited edition pieces.
Nanda is a fully qualified interior designer, certified to design your kitchen, bathroom, furniture, exterior, and interior architectural features, curtains and numerous other options for window treatments, colour and paint consultations, flooring, and lighting, and can also assist you with project management, together with an architect or builder.
