Ever Art Wood kicks goals for NSWRL Centre of Excellence.

The pursuit of excellence led Populous, an award-winning design firm, to choose Ever Art Wood for the interior and exterior of the NSW Rugby League Centre of Excellence in Olympic Park, Sydney. With the aim of achieving a four-green star equivalency rating, a careful selection of materials was taken. It was quickly evident that the advantages of aluminium timber look Ever Art Wood cladding were clear.

The multi-million dollar state of the art facility was opened in time for the State of Origin 2019 in February of that year. Featuring world-class facilities, the centre is the embodiment of the culture and best practice of NSWRL.

“This new Centre of Excellence is an absolute game-changer for NSWRL,” NSWRL Chief Executive David Trodden said. “It’s not a stretch to say this is the best high-performance facility in the Rugby League world.”

Ever Art Wood panels and battens were utilised in various profiles and colours across both the interior and the facade of the building.

Showcased on the facade were fire-rated 2mm Mokuzai panels in Riigaru Oku with its timber look softening the hard angles of the structure. The ability to withstand the elements was an important consideration considering its use, framing windows, soffits, and ceilings of the exterior spaces. Its utilisation over real timber came down to Ever Art Wood’s superior performance when subjected to environmental factors such as exposure to UV, humidity, and rain as well as its low maintenance requirements.

Kabebari battens of various profiles were also used for decorative ceiling and wall features throughout interior spaces. Its seamless look was a real benefit with the two-part battens design concealing all fixings with screws hidden inside the profile.

Using a combination of 100x50, 30x85 and 30x50 Kabebari profiles in Biera Oku, feature ceilings with inset lighting were created in meeting rooms. The battens were further utilised in a striking 60 person lecture theatre with magnificently detailed batten wrapped floor to ceiling wall.

Ever Art Wood is an exceptional choice for both exterior and interior decorative cladding, combining the realistic appearance of timber with the durability of aluminium.
