Odin Place Residence
The brief was to explore a way forward with the under utilized upper level deck and revive the upper level that was too dark for a main living spaces. The unique A-frame construction provided number of challenges and limitations for design proposals.

Construction: The traditional timber-framed construction method was chosen for the new walls with a specifically designed jointing system between old and new. The deck was designed to be entirely detached from the existing dwelling to minimize the remedial work required.

Design Response:The proposal is to remove the underused northern deck to open up the unobstructed views towards the bush. Additionally, we proposed a new deck on the eastern side to transform the dark living area into an open living space with direct outdoor access. New joinery and greater openings created an inviting connection to the newly constructed outdoor living space.
