The Parklands House is firstly an earthquake reinstatement. Rebuilding the designer’s own home enabled the creation of an honest Totara clad form adorned with PV array and battery, achieving the goal of net zero energy. A high-performance SIPS envelope coupled with well-positioned glazing allows the occupants to walk barefoot even on the coldest winter day. Utilising natural interior finishes and joinery the design is showcased on the Black Hut designs website.
