By Herbst Maxcey Metropolitan Architects
2002 NZIA Jury Citation : "This is a sensitive solution to the problem of inserting a new building among a collection of existing structures at a small primary school. The use of white painted weatherboards and timber screens help maintain continuity with the surrounding buildings, yet the skillful use of contrasting forms and spaces still presents a contemporary entity. Inside, areas are made child-friendly through scale, light and surface arrangement. Simple materials enliven the space with an inviting freshness."
