By Johnston Architects
This new Wanaka bach merges the traditional built forms of its Central Otago setting, with modern materials and refined detailing to create a robust, yet clean and contemporary aesthetic.
Designed as a holiday home, the client requested a low maintenance dwelling that both looked and felt like a Bach and could be used by their young family to enjoy Wanaka’s unique water and alpine based recreational activities year-round. A particular emphasis was placed on subtly merging the indoor and outdoor spaces to create a sense of ‘semi-urban camping.'
