This Wellington home retains many features of its early 1900’s origins, and deserved the time and effort to find a solution to ensure it lived on. Much of the internal structure has been re-organised to provide an effective use of floor space – necessary given the many additions and changes the home has had during its 100 years. The external features have been retained and complemented as much as possible, enforcing its historic identity. The owners had firm requirements of functionality for a young family, as well as aesthetic features at the top of their priority list. Contemporary features were incorporated where they added modern comforts to the living space without distracting from the character of the building.   “We utilised James’ skills for both the design and construction of our renovation. The design phase took place over a protracted period (due to delays on our part) and James was always very patient; taking time to explore different options and give advice, whilst ensuring we had the best design that allowed us to meet our wish list, and accommodate our budget.” “As James completed all design work, we felt he was more invested in our project and well placed to wear two hats while the works were underway. In terms of project management, James was an excellent communicator, ensuring any conversations that took place were followed up with emails. He also provided adequate notice of any decisions that were required.
