About This Project

This renovation project was originally hampered by the fact that the adjoining neighbour of the semi-detached dwelling did not consent to building onto the party/shared wall.

We were able to design a roof at the rear of the cottage that didn’t require us to touch this structure saving the client time, money and removing cause for concern of the neighbour.

Our brief was to bring a 1970’s renovated Victorian Era cottage into the 21st century, and to allow for guest accommodation above the existing garage on the rear lane.

The owners favourite room was the bathroom with the full width and full height window to the shower – it does face a blank wall.

When they sold it recently the realised sale price was far in excess of the owners and agents expectations.

Garage with upper floor study makes for enhanced flexibility. The owner had experience with skylight installation and used double glazed skylights for windows for improved environmental outcomes
A once dark jumble of spaces and low ceilings, is now full of light. By leaving the original roof profile to the boundary we didn't have to agree with the neighbour on extending the parti-wall
Freshene up bedroom areas and new flooring to replace rotten floorboards
Full height aluminium glass to the shower area

About the
Professional

We work with you to design the places where you live, work and play.

We listen to your ideas, visions and dreams and work with you to achieve them.

The process of dealing with councils can be daunting. We have over twenty years of experience running a design practice in Sydney and have in that time dealt with most Councils and experience a wide range of project types and challenges.

Our clients come to us looking for solutions to projects in residential, commercial and industrial categories. Heritage is a large part of working in the more established areas of Sydney.

Our projects have been featured in media including print and television, including Grand Designs Australia and work with Selling in the City.

Our name reflects that the process and production of our built environment brings with it a responsibility to be an agent of positive change. Benefits should be felt and experienced not only by our clients, but also for all others impacted by it. This is especially true in regards to our use of resources during construction, and the long term consumption of resources.
