Raumati Beach Home

Our clients envisioned a stunning seaside home perched on a sloping site, sweeping down toward the waves of Kapiti’s shores. The design showcases bold, strong lines and a palette of raw materials—glass, steel, concrete, and timber—that emphasize the architecture’s striking presence and defy gravity with tilted walls and multiple levels. Inside, we aimed to match the home's captivating exterior with an equally compelling interior that celebrates the extraordinary views outside. Drawing inspiration from the personalities of the homeowners and their vibrant, young family, we developed a warm, inviting color palette of ochres, olive and sage greens, with touches of cobalt blue. Each space incorporates elements of this palette to create cohesion, while subtle splashes of contrasting colors provide visual interest and personality. To achieve a dynamic, engaging environment, we blended contemporary forms, patterns, artwork, furniture, and accessories—carefully contrasting textures and styles to delight the senses while maintaining practicality for everyday living. Custom furniture pieces were crafted locally, and accessories sourced from Australasian artisans and suppliers, including vintage art, adding unique character and supporting regional craftsmanship. The result is a rich, joyful space that celebrates the home’s striking architecture and magnificent surroundings—a home that truly reflects its vibrant owners and welcomes visitors with warmth and style.
