These clients embarked on the renovation of the century and managed to get in right before lockdown! This gorgeous 1950’s bungalow has the most incredible views of Lake Taupo so our client wanted to make the most of them. They didn’t have a huge space allocated for the kitchen so clever storage was essential as well as a seamless design. This kitchen might be small, but she’s definitely MIGHTY! A blum space tower saves a huge amount of space and makes every square inch user friendly. Push-to-open drawers and cupboards meant space wasn’t used up with handles. A clever carousel in the corner unit gave access their pots and pans. The benchtop butted perfectly into the bifold window and outdoor bar top. Gorgeous native matai floating shelves tie in beautifully with stunning timber floors. In addition to the kitchen, we also recycled some native timber to make a beautiful custom staircase and a mantel for the fireplace.

About the
Professional

When it comes to joinery, we are proud to be masters of our graft.

We are precise. Skilled. Experienced. We’ve got the smarts and we’re not afraid of a bit of hard graft. We also know this isn’t about us. This is about you. Company or home, we value our clients and their vision. And we know that when we fuse your vision with our expertise, we get results. From commercial fit-outs to domestic cabinetry—if you need a joiner, then you need a Grafter.

We’ve done fit-outs for restaurants, retail and dental clinics. For bars, banks and offices. We’ve done kitchens, wardrobes, shelving, cabinets and all sorts of other storage solutions. We are a tight knit group of people who are excited for the future of our company and committed to providing excellence in service and workmanship.

We’ve got a history of quality workmanship and attention to detail.

History? How can Graft Joinery have a history when they’re a brand new company, we hear you ask? Well, the truth is we’ve been in the trade for over 13 years but have recently branched out on our own. What was once known as CDM Central is now Graft Joinery and while it is in many ways the same company, it is also in many ways completely different. Under our new mantra of ‘working smarter’, we have committed to innovating, improving and streamlining all areas of our business. But we’re keeping our attention to detail. We’re keeping our best staff (and adding new ones). We’re keeping our commitment to quality. And we’re keeping our commitment to all our clients, past, present and future.

Graft Joinery is now run by a brand new duo—husband and wife team, Craig and Julia van Velden. After 13 years of ‘hard graft’ working for CDM Central, this pedantic dutchman decided to give self-employment a whirl. With help and support from staff, friends and family, CDM Central closed its doors and reopened as Graft Joinery Ltd.

So what does working smarter REALLY mean for our clients? It means a more efficient workflow. It means making use of the latest technologies at all levels of our business, from accounting and time management software, right through to tools and machinery. It means a thorough knowledge of materials which often leads to more economical solutions without having to compromise on a high quality outcome. It means we can think outside the box because we understand that box inside and out. It means happier staff and happier customers. We’re young, innovative and we’re excited for the future
