By Fifth Season Landscapes NZ
The Brief
Having recently renovated the property, creating an outdoor entertaining area directly off the house and updating the planting scheme, this young family wanted to add a pool to complete their dream backyard. The remaining space was a challenging one, with 2 large, established gum trees and an awkward shaped section driving the creation of a truly unique solution.
The Concept
Classic curves were integral to a functional pool design that maximised every inch of the site while still maintaining large level lawn and a sense of space.
The circular pool slots nicely into the triangular corner to the rear of the garden, with this also informing the layout of poolside decking and lounge areas for a family friendly space. A semi formal planting scheme was developed to relate to the area and architecture, with avenues of ornamental pears and manicured topiaries beneath framing the pool and providing a beautiful backdrop to the space. Subtle curves were also used to define the pool area, with curved aluminium fencing disappearing within the poolside garden and frameless glass creating a seamless visual connection from garden to water.
Features
Circular custom concrete pool and coping, curved timber deck and batten screening, curved aluminium fencing
