A love of Lockwood and timber prompted these homeowners to build a Lockwood home on their rural property north of Tauranga in 2001. They loved the house but, over time, felt the need to refine their living spaces, make some updates to modernise and prepare for the next stage of their lives. They looked at moving and finding another property. Nothing measured up, and they were not finished with the current property, all of the trees they had planted and the landscaping they had done. So instead of moving themselves off, they sold the 2001 Lockwood house and it went to a new site. Then Soren and his team at Lockwood Tauranga set to work designing and constructing this beauty for them.
The result is a stunning 283m² home, full of carefully planned details and a design that captures the light and surrounding landscape. Pops of colour in the kitchen and scullery contrast beautifully with the natural timber tones. Texture in the concrete tile feature wall adds another layer of depth to the interior design. The homeowners took inspiration from the Lockwood website and also visited show homes around the country, with the bespoke barn doors inspired by a similar herringbone pattern in the Acacia show home in Taupo. Plenty of thought went into how the home would be used, afforded by the time spent living on the site.
