Sandspit Kitchen - Celia Visser Design | ArchiPro

Sandspit Kitchen

The existing kitchen in this home was dated and impractical, and there was no connectivity to the living areas or the panoramic views. It required a new entrance and foyer as well as a place to display the client's art.

One of the main challenges was that the space was hexagonal and, to enable the kitchen to be relocated the kitchen into a position to maximise the view, major structural supporting posts had to be moved and the ceiling strengthened.

Other considerations were the complexities of fabricating the massive stainless steel island benchtop, then installing it in one piece without warping or twisting.

The colour palette was inspired to capture the room's serene elegance and sea vistas, with crisp white tones, paired with the subtle finish of the bead-blasted stainless steel benchtop and the distinctive veneer ceiling.

As evening approaches, subtle mood lighting gently transforms the atmosphere in the room without dominating the ocean view.

This result is a balance between luxurious simplicity and comfort... with a bit of soul.
