Launching their new album ‘Castle Street’, kiwi band SIX60 have paid homage to their student origins in Dunedin. The band was formed at their old flat at 660 Castle Street. So what better way to represent their new album but a replica of where it all started!
My Little Pub was commissioned to research, design and build the iconic flat. As a supplier to My Little Pub, Muros was approached to supply red brick paneling to clad the exterior. The goal: to create an authentic replica abode where the SIX60 success story all began.
From the team at Muros, it was a pleasure to be a part of an iconic kiwi band we all know and love!
Muros Red Slimline Brick wall panels were selected as the closest match, reminiscent of the original old English brickworks of so many Castle Street student flats.
Lightweight and flexible, the panels were able to be transported to the build site in Christchurch. MWF Manufacturing cleverly constructed the little 660 flat, before transporting it around NZ as part of the band’s SIX60 Saturdays live concerts.
The versatility of Muros Wall Panels, meant the creative team were easily able to ‘age’ the panels to more accurately represent a flat of circa 50’s origins.
The result is a replica that looks extraordinarily like the original outside of the 660 Castle Street. Inside it looks like the flat of old days, complete with couch, ‘Gardies’ pub neon sign, stocked bar, concealed TV and baby piano. We hope the Six60 team and their fans love it!
