Hutchies was awarded the D&C contract to build the $91M 40 storey luxury Spire Apartments early in 2015. Construction started on the 340 one and two bedroom apartments in March 2015 and was completed in 2017.
Bordered by Queen and Adelaide Streets, Spire was the first major residential building at the entrance to the CBD from Fortitude Valley and Spring Hill.
The building’s design, crafted by John Wardle Architects, features a veil-like facade around the tower acting as both a privacy and sun shield, which expands around balconies and living areas to open up views, and contracts around bedrooms for privacy.
Spire also includes a podium level, designed to embrace the surrounding heritage by incorporating folded brickwork to unite the heritage values of the neighbouring Saint John’s Cathedral and ensure the view of the steeple remains uninterrupted.
Rising above its Queen St entrance, a stunning vertical garden wall stitches lush greenery into the fabric of the building. With 360 degree views over Brisbane City, Spire’s rooftop leisure deck offers exclusive use of Spire’s beautiful infinity pool, state of the art gym, sun lounges, outdoor alfresco barbecues and private dining areas designed by award winning Urbane restaurant.
