Revitalization of a historic beach house, blending character with modern layout for longevity and adaptability, featuring a new first-floor balcony with Chinese screening for privacy and unobstructed sea views.
Being modified a number of times over the last 80 years, this converted beach house was in a sorry state of repair, even before it sustained major earthquake damage. The homeowners wished to repair and prepare the house for its next 80 years of life by bringing back some of its character and modernising the layout.
All layout changes have been done in a way that this home can be easily adapted for future occupants to ensure its long term value as a residence. The new first floor balcony utilises Chinese screening techniques to add character and create privacy from within while not impacting views over the esplanade and out to sea.
