The Nautilus

At the Nautilus in Orewa, I was asked to transform a tired two-bedroom apartment into a luxury beach getaway.

All measures were taken to ensure the project was carried out in an ethical way.  Poly carpets and vinyl were uplifted and replaced by natural timber planks.

Bespoke Timber Coatings is a New Zealand manufacturer and supplier of high-quality, sustainable timber flooring working together with  Forestry New Zealand's One Billion Trees Programme.

Existing Art pieces were carefully reworked in the new colour scheme. This avoided excess waste and created a stunning feature in the living area.

The kitchen was refaced, saving all existing cabinetry minimising waste.

New crisp white cabinet doors, teamed with natural hex tiles, made the kitchen, light, bright and modern. Without having to replace the countertops, it looked like a brand new kitchen.

Freedom furniture provided the drapes in the new ethical, VOC free linen range, and the bedding was hand-selected to only include ethical and sustainable brands of organic cotton and bamboo.

Overall the clients were thrilled with the results and the space feels natural and chic.
