Award-winning contemporary home seamlessly integrated into the Maungakawa foothills, designed for easy living and panoramic views, featuring a low profile and natural materials that harmonize with the surrounding landscape.
Winner of the 2022 ADNZ Residential New Home over 300m2 Architectural Design Award and the Resene Colour in Design Award. This contemporary low-lying home steps down the natural contour of the ridge, in the foothills of Maungakawa mountain, providing expansive, panoramic views of the plains below.
The brief was to create an easy living dwelling with a contemporary aesthetic which did justice to the location and embraced the dramatic surrounding views. Our clients wanted to ensure that the building should sit comfortably rather than work competitively within its environment.
The resulting low profile, multi-pod home was built into the sloping ridge of the land, providing minimal disruption to the skyline, and constructed with raw textures and a colour palette drawn from nature, to reflect the hillside backdrop.
