More than just a night of celebration, the COLORSTEEL® Awards have become a respected benchmark for quality, innovation, and craftsmanship. Taking home an award is a proud career moment, true recognition of the skill and workmanship behind every project.

Launched in 2019, over the years, the awards have grown to become a stage where residential & commercial projects are celebrated for their vision, durability, and execution. This year’s event drew a record number of entries, reflecting both the diversity of projects across the country and the growing demand for roofing and cladding solutions that combine strength, style, and sustainability. The caliber of this year’s submissions clearly shows an industry that continues to raise the standard.

The judging panel comprised experienced industry figures and design experts, who evaluated entries against a strict set of criteria. These included technical excellence, aesthetic impact, environmental considerations, and the ability to push creative boundaries while working within the practical demands of construction.

This year’s judging panel consisted of Ken Crosson, Director Crosson Architects, Stacey Farrell, Architect, staceyfarrell.com, Matt McDougall, Future Proof Roofing and Rod Newbold, Executive Committee Member of the Metal Roofing Manufacturers Association.

RESIDENTIAL BUILDING OF THE YEAR - Pablo House by Kerr Ritchie Architects

What the judges said: “Pablo House was an extraordinary house on an extraordinary site and the response was unique and surprising. Essentially it was a big COLORSTEEL® wall on the south side which revealed nothing of what was inside the house, what was beyond. This house was incredibly crafted, the thought that went into every surface, every material, how you move through the space, how you feel the space, how you touch the space, how you resonate with the site.”

– Ken Crosson

COMMERCIAL BUILDING OF THE YEAR - Gantley's Brewhall by Yoke

What the judges said: “Gantley’s Brewhall stood out from the other commercial entrants because of the masterful way that they had handled the materials. As you enter, there was a steel form that just brought you in. The material selected respected the beautiful stone building that’s just in front; the gutter detail was incredibly successful in being incorporated and accentuating the form of the building. It was quite a journey, the entry got you excited and as you moved through the spaces it all just worked.”

LIFESTYLE BUILDING OF THE YEAR - Kahikatea Home Workshop by Coresteel North Harbour

What the judges said: “The winner of the lifestyle property of the year is something that started out in concept as a simple steel framed shed that’s been transformed into something that supports both lifestyle and living areas in a very nice manner. On the lifestyle, there’s a three-bay garage with hoists so the owner can satisfy his passion for doing up vintage cars, outside there’s a firepit and a golf driving range and clever use of uplighting to accentuate the striking monochromatic colour palette.”

-Rod Newbold
