DECO Australia, second-generation family business and manufacturer of premium aluminium building products has been awarded the coveted 2025 Family Business of the Year Award and the Established Family Business Award at the celebrated Family Business Excellence Awards.

DECO’s customer-first approach, strong family values and commitment to sustainability were celebrated along with the Doonan family’s hard work and passion for quality.

Meika Doonan, Director Strategy & Governance of DECO accepted the awards saying the company had tripled its size in only six years and made it through many ups and downs over its history.

“My dad, Ross, started the business 21 years ago, his vision was simple and powerful, ‘imagine what a business could achieve because it actually cared about its customers’ and that's the philosophy that we live by. We've built something that we're all incredibly proud of, and like all family businesses, the blood, sweat and tears is real. - Meika

Established in 2024 by Ross Doonan, today DECO has grown into one of Australia’s leading building product manufacturers. Renowned for their unique DecoWood® aluminium finish, which replicates the appearance and feel of natural timber minus the ongoing maintenance, DECO’s extensive range of timber-look aluminium building products are sold nation-wide, with all products tested to Australian Standards for non-combustibility and fire safety.

The Family Business of the Year Award underscores the vital role family-run enterprises play across Australia, highlighting their significant innovation, economic, social, and cultural impacts.

With family businesses representing 70% of all businesses and providing approximately 50% of the nation’s workforce, they span the spectrum from small local shops to large multinational operations, demonstrating the diversity and strength of family entrepreneurship in the region.
