The 2026 program introduces the inaugural Victorian Regional Design Fair, bringing together more than 50 designers, studios and creative businesses from regional Victoria. Held at the newly opened Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre, the fair will showcase work spanning furniture, ceramics, landscape design, fashion, advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies.

Alongside contemporary design, the program will explore Geelong’s longer history of making and innovation, with a dedicated timeline connecting current creative practice with more than 60,000 years of design knowledge connected to Djilang.

The wider program looks at the role of design across architecture, materials and place. Open House Melbourne, Woods Bagot, Plenary and the Victorian Convention and Event Trust will share insights into the design of Nyaal Banyul, while Built Legacies at Deakin University’s Waterfront Gallery will explore the influence of Australian architecture through the McGlashan Everist archive.

Material innovation is also a key focus, with the ARC Research Hub for Future Fibres hosting talks and tours exploring textile circularity and sustainable materials.

For architects and designers, Geelong Design Week offers a snapshot of how regional practice is evolving, highlighting the studios, makers and ideas shaping Australia’s design landscape beyond major cities.
