The 11 Best Sofas to Invest In

1. The best overall sofa: Jasper

Investing in quality furniture marks a shift toward creating a space that's truly your own. It's where you can choose designs that reflect your style and won't need to be replaced in a year. The Jasper Sofa is made for this moment.

Our most awarded sofa, Jasper has been a consistently best-selling design in Australia and around the globe for over two decades. King Living customers choose Jasper as the best overall sofa for modular flexibility, deep seated comfort, and its endless possibilities for customisation. Let’s hear what they have to say:

“I love my Jasper!  I recently moved out of my family home and bought my very first sofa. My new apartment looks amazing, and the sofa is so comfortable! I love the fact it converts to a bed so I can have friends stay over!” – Charlotte, Product Review.

All King Living sofas are made to order, giving you the freedom to personalise your fabric and finish. Jasper goes further, with options to choose a curve module, add timber shelves, under-seat storage and Smart Pocket™ accessories, like reading lamps and charging tables.

And because life doesn’t stand still, neither does Jasper. Its patented component system allows for evolution, where each module can be rearranged, reimagined or expanded over time. Shift the side of your chaise to face the TV one day, and the window the next. Find your ideal comfort level by choosing between feather, memory foam, or premium firm seat cushions, then transform the design into a luxurious bed and carry your comfort seamlessly into the night.

While comfort matters, so does longevity. Jasper’s steel frame, backed by a 25-year warranty, offers assurance that it’s not just built to last the next phase, but the many that follow. Supported by the King Living Postureflex® Seating System and sink-in Ultradown® back cushions, the design offers the kind of enduring structure and softness that will welcome you back home gently after a long day.

2. Best statement sofa: 1977 Sofa

As your vision for the perfect living space takes shape, investing in designs that allow you to express your own style becomes paramount. Defined by its truly modular form and exclusive fabrics, the 1977 Sofa invites that expression, thoughtfully crafted for customisation and creating a personal design statement.

Each module of the 1977 Sofa can be configured to suit the way you live and your desired aesthetic, whether you're working with a suburban open plan or a more compact inner-city footprint. Modular in every sense, the design allows you to rearrange, expand or refine as you map out your floorplan. The chaise can be positioned to the left or right as your layout needs shift. You might create a quiet corner for reading, or let the curve module anchor the catchups that come with welcoming guests into your home.

Tailored covers are designed to be removed and machine-washed, making it easy to refresh your interior with the seasons or shift from one colour palette to another. The curated selection of premium fabrics offers opportunities to play with tone: soft chalky neutrals, warm earthy hues, or a burst of something vibrant. With the option to mix and match fabrics across modules, if you live as a two or are building a home with family, you can each choose your favourite fabric and create an eclectic look that reflects everyone’s style.

Here’s how one of our customers describes their customisation of the 1977 Sofa:

“I really like the 1977 Sofa from King Living. It is a beautifully designed and the colour range is great. My colour is Pinot Noir and I love it. I should be buying a few more pieces as it’s modular and I can add to it whenever I like.” – Bruce, Product Review.

With a low-profile silhouette and relaxed curves, the 1977 Sofa offers a gentle balance of structure and spontaneity. You can choose from one of the package options or build your perfect 1977 Sofa with the design configurator. Create a space that feels personal now, and change it again later, without starting over. Style doesn’t need to be static. It can be modular too.

3. Most comfortable sofa: Haven

In the early weeks of shaping your perfect interior, it can take time for a house to feel like home. Investing in true comfort becomes the foundation that makes all the difference, and the Haven Sofa offers it generously.

Cloud-like comfort defines the experience. Seat cushions are crafted from a luxurious next-generation foam, the softest in the King Living Collection. Multiple layers of firmness and density work together to deliver a sink-in feeling that gently returns to shape, no matter how often you nestle into it.

Find your perfect comfort level with armrests and backrests that adjust with a simple motion, and transition from a low profile to a high back for enhanced support. Flexibility is at your fingertips with Haven, an ideal design for when one person wants to nap and the other’s deep into a TV series. Featuring lumbar cushions with weighted internal beads, Haven is intentionally crafted for a truly indulgent feel and unified look.

When settling into a new look and feel of a space, Haven becomes a sanctuary. The epitome of relaxed luxury, ready to support you through every routine and ritual.

4. Best curved sofa: Aura Sofa

After years of living with conventional designs or furniture chosen by necessity, starting fresh with a new sofa often means leaning towards something design-focused and infused with a contemporary edge.

In 2026, the leading sofa and interior trends embrace curved designs, modular versatility and richly textured fabrics like bouclé and velvet. The Aura Sofa perfectly captures this movement, with its sculptural silhouette and adaptable form offering modern elegance alongside exceptional comfort.

Designed for compact living but with the flexibility to expand, the Aura Sofa’s gentle curves create a natural flow through your home, softening the hard lines and sharp corners of surrounding furniture. The curved form defines zones without rigid boundaries, making it a natural choice for interiors guided by the organic harmony of Japandi styling or feng shui principles. Perfect for smaller spaces, the modular design also allows for easy reconfiguration with the option to choose from one of our packages or build your own custom Aura Sofa with the design configurator.

Made to order in your choice of premium fabrics and European leathers, the Aura Sofa can be tailored to suit your vision for your home. For the most contemporary look, select a bouclé fabric such as Leura or Lennox, or a plush Preston Velvet. Alongside their sought-after appeal, choosing a tactile, tonal fabric for your curved sofa can introduce dimension and warmth when reimagining a space, particularly in a freshly painted room before art and accessories are in place.

5. Best sofa for everyday use: Delta

Thoughtfully designing or redecorating can be a time-consuming task, so investing in a sofa that is both versatile and flexible means one less worry on the list.

The Delta Sofa keeps pace with modern lifestyle demands, with a fully modular design that allows you to reconfigure arms, backs and seats with ease. When friends or family stay over, it transforms effortlessly into a supportive and comfortable bed. Each module connects seamlessly, so you can shift from a relaxed afternoon to a guest-ready setting in minutes.

Whether a compact apartment or a flowing living space, Delta offers the option of hidden, generous under-seat storage to keep everyday items tidied away. Removable and replaceable, the covers are made to order in fabric or leather, giving you the freedom to update the look or arrange cleaning with ease.

For the most low-maintenance option, choose a leather finish. Unlike fabric, where stains and dust can settle into the weave over time, leather resists absorption. Perfect for homes with children or pets, marks wipe away easily and pet hair brushes off in moments. Roma Tan on Delta is our best-selling leather finish, valued for its timeless character, tone, and practicality. As one of our customers shares:

“Great sofa! We purchased our leather Delta Sofa about 15 months ago. We have two large dogs that jump all over it, and it still looks brand new. The ability to reconfigure to a bed is a great feature. Would definitely recommend.” – Josh,  Product Review.

6. Best sofa for a small space: Fleur

For many in the process of crafting their signature living space look, a smaller room is often the canvas. But this shouldn't limit your choices. In the world of thoughtful interior design, compact spaces often inspire the most creative solutions. Whether it's an inner-city studio apartment or a terrace with narrow layouts, every square metre counts. Investing in a sofa that delivers comfort without overwhelming the room is key.

The Fleur Sofa is designed with this in mind. Packages are available in widths from 2070mm to 2870mm, in 2-seater, 2.5 and 3-seater sizes, and with ottomans in three versatile sizes, Fleur gives you the freedom to tailor your seating to the space you have.

Fleur’s signature folding backrests create two distinct profiles that both work beautifully in a smaller room. Folded, the sofa takes on a low, minimal silhouette that keeps the space feeling open and uncluttered, allowing natural light and surrounding décor to take centre stage. Unfolded, the backrests offer elevated neck and upper back support for when you want to settle into deep comfort, while drawing the eye upward, giving the impression of greater room height. This dual functionality means you can shift the look and feel of your living area in an instant, balancing comfort and proportion to suit the moment.

Two styles of occasional chair: the Fleur Lounge Chair and the Fleur Swivel Tub Chair, extend the collection beyond the sofa. They can create a cohesive look across multiple rooms, provide a flexible alternative if you’re not ready to commit to a larger sofa, or add comfortable seating to a home office, bedroom, or reading nook.

7. Best sofa bed: Oscar Sofa Bed

One of the most practical benefits of designing your ideal home is creating versatile spaces. This might include a spare bedroom that needs to be flexible, adapting from a work-from-home office to a welcoming guest space, or maximising functionality in a studio apartment. The Oscar Sofa Bed is the perfect design for interiors like these, providing a space-saving solution with signature King Living comfort.

From a 2-seater sofa measuring 980mm, extending to a 2080mm double bed all in one smooth motion, the Oscar Sofa Bed transitions seamlessly without needing to remove the back or seat cushions. This Italian-designed pull-out mechanism is paired with the Sleep+ Mattress, crafted from multi-layer high-resilience foam for lasting comfort, and included with every Oscar Sofa Bed.

Beneath it all, advanced innovations like the Postureflex® Seating System and KingCell® pocket springs are paired with the signature King Steel Frame backed by a 25-year warranty, ensuring dependable support that’s designed to last for decades.

Last year, our customers’ sofa preferences revealed an interesting pattern. The Jasper Sofa Collection was among the most sought-after modular designs, while the Oscar Sofa Bed emerged as the most popular individual sofa. It’s a reflection of how many homes are embracing versatile furniture that blends style, comfort and adaptability.

Perfect for hosting overnight visitors with little notice, Oscar is the best sofa bed to invest in, even serving as an ideal temporary bedroom arrangement for movie nights that stretch long into the later hours.

8. Most contemporary sofa: Zaza

Designed by Australian designer Charles Wilson for King Living, the Zaza Sofa brings a sculptural shape and a contemporary aesthetic to design-led interiors. It’s furniture you invest in not just for comfort, but because it reflects the style you’ve always imagined for your home.

Gentle organic lines and luxuriously deep seats set the tone for your living space. Adjustable arms and backs move seamlessly, letting you find the perfect position whether it’s for a morning coffee or an evening recline, browsing coffee table books on design and imagining what comes next for your space. The finishing touches complete the modern aesthetic. Slender steel legs in a dark bronze finish keep the design light and elegant, while distinctive edge stitching adds a refined, relaxed detail you’ll notice every time you walk into the room.

While the choice of fabric and leather cover options for Zaza is over 200, Preston Velvet, as featured in Tan, brings a rich, tactile quality that catches the light beautifully. Choose from a collection of contemporary earthy tones, incredibly soft to the touch and transform not just Zaza, but your newly decorated living space into an interior design statement.  As one of our customers shares:

“It’s perfect. I bought the Zaza in a green velvet. It arrived yesterday. It’s gorgeous, comfortable and a perfect height.” – Jacqui, Product Review.

9. Best sofa for a large living room: Max

After years of working around the limits of smaller spaces, stepping into a generous living room feels transformative. Whether you are planning a space that could one day welcome a growing family, already sharing it with loved ones, or simply want to make the most of a larger layout, you have the exciting task of choosing furniture that doesn’t just fit a larger room, but defines it.

The Max Sofa is a bold, minimalist design, built for laid-back lounging, with deep seats and plush box tufting that invite you to stretch out and settle in for long, cocooning evenings. Max’s modular components reconfigure effortlessly, a unique feature for a larger sofa, giving you the freedom to shape the room as life evolves.

Create expansive seating with a chaise for movie marathons, a welcoming L-shaped arrangement for celebrations, or a relaxed corner configuration with the Max Ottoman for finding comfort in everyday routines. A bolster and back cushions adjust to the support levels you need, so even when you are sharing the sofa, each person can tailor their own comfort and relaxation.

With Max packages available in widths from 3040mm to 3940mm, investing in a larger sofa to anchor a spacious living room is a commitment. But like all of our sofas, Max is built on the King Living steel frame and Postureflex® seating system, backed by a 25-year warranty, offering the assurance that this statement piece will hold its place for generations to come.

10. Best sofa for families: 1978 High Back Sofa

The 1978 High Back Sofa is made for the rhythm of family life. Its taller profile offers full-body support, perfect for maintaining posture or for curling up together. The deep, generous seats welcome everyone to sink in, while the gentle curves create a soft, inviting shape.

The modular design encourages you to choose from one of our curated packages or create your own shape by selecting and customising individual modules. This flexibility means you can open the layout for family gatherings, choose a curved corner module for an organic look, or even add armrests for extra support, providing a safe edge for children.

The 1978 High Back Sofa is available in a luxuriously soft range of fabrics, but what makes it the best sofa for families? All the cover options are removable, so you’ll never need to replace the entire sofa if a single cover is damaged. Simply update individual covers as needed, or refresh the whole look whenever you choose. Sofa covers are also machine washable, so spills and muddy footprints rinse away in a cycle, keeping your first home feeling pristine and looking beautiful.

11. Best recliner sofa: King Cinema Recliner

One of the best parts of interior design is envisioning what each space will become. Picture your living room transformed into a private movie theatre. The King Cinema Recliner makes it possible.

The recliner sofa's gently curved form contours to your body and allows you to position the modules around your TV screen, creating a fully immersive home cinema experience. Hidden inside the seats, the KingCell® spring system and high-resilience foam ensure soft, lasting comfort that is perfect for movie marathons.

With TouchGlide® gesture control in the Premiere series, you can adjust your recline with a simple swipe and even save your favourite settings for next time. The Classic series offers press-button operation for effortless comfort at your fingertips. The modular design adapts to your space, so you can start with a single recliner or compact set-up and add modules or a media console as your home, and cinema, evolves.

The King Cinema Recliner is the ultimate birthday or housewarming gift to yourself, bringing comfort, style and the thrill of movie-night luxury to your living space, and our customers agree:

“When it comes to setting up a home theatre, you can't go past King Living for luxurious and high-tech seating. The recline mechanism is the best in the business, and nothing comes close for quality and a feeling of luxury. We look forward to many cosy evenings reclined watching our favourite movies.”  – Grahame, Product Review.
