Native to NZ. Small, densely foliaged tree. Leathery dark green leaves felted underneath. Dark red flower, nectar late Spring, fruit/seeds from February to June. Prefers sun and well drained soil, intolerant of wet feet. Tolerates wind, drought and coastal conditions. Evergreen.
