Macrocarpa/Cypress timbers have been a proven cladding for many years. MacDirect has seen our cladding sales increase rapidly as home owners see it's special attributes. A NZ exotic, artificial chemical free, durable, stable timber, it can be painted, stained, or left to naturally silver off. MacDirect can pre-coat your weatherboard with the wood oil coating of your choice.
For building code purposes, MacDirect can supply a producer statement stating the timber supplied is heart wood. Our cladding is specifically graded for weatherboard, No.1 panel grade, heart, with tight knots. It should be noted that panel grade weatherboard is a higher grade than panel grade sarking with no bark inclusion. Visually, Macrocarpa/Cypress cladding is a sought after look. From "log home" style to standard weatherboard profiles and "board & batten" styles, the timber suits a range of design appeals. MacDirect has supplied high grade Macrocarpa cladding for exclusive resorts such as Cape Kidnappers Golf Lodge, Aitutaki Spa and Resort Rarotonga.

Since the early 1990s MacDirect has been New Zealand's specialist in #1 building macrocarpa cypress timbers. Supplying weatherboard, sarking, beams, framing (includes SG8) and finishing clears. MacDirect also operates the sawmills that takes raw product and creates stunning end user products and kitsets for the Urbanmac lifestyle and garden store. MacDirect supplies all major timber merchants in New Zealand and direct to customers.
Macrocarpa and Lusitanica (cuppressus) are native trees of California and Mexico respectively. Common name is Monterey Cypress and Mexican Cypress. Most plantation Cypress grown in Northern NZ is Lusitanica. Also available in restricted supply is Lawson Cypress. All are structurally stable and strong and classed as moderately durable. ie Have a natural durability(no chemical treatment) similar to H3.1 treated Radiata pine.
MacDirect supplies products for the whole house build . From Framing (SG8 verified on request) cladding, paneling, flooring, and all joinery . Most prefer the distinctive natural look of knotty macrocarpa/cypress but clears are also available especially in joinery and for weatherboard. Large size beams/posts up to 400x400 can be supplied.
A pre-coating service in a quality penetrating woodoil is available and we strongly recommend this for decking in particular but also for cladding. Macrocarpa can be painted traditionally.
