LED Drivers

LED drivers provide LED light bulbs with the electricity required to function and perform correctly. LEDs run on low voltage direct current, unlike bulbs that operate on a higher voltage alternating current. This means that LEDs need drivers to convert that alternating current to direct current. This will keep the voltage flowing through an LED circuit at the rated level that the LED requires. 

Constant current and constant voltage are the two main types of drivers. Each is designed to operate LEDs with different electrical requirements. LED light bulbs designed to replace household bulbs mostly contain internal drivers and don't require external ones. Always match the old driver's input and output requirements as closely as possible when choosing replacement LED drivers.

LED Strip Lights 

LED strip lights are a versatile solution for any lighting requirements. They can be utilised in a number of applications, such as stair lighting, railing lighting, under cabinet lighting, pathway lighting, cove lighting, and so much more. Bayonet bulbs are used in a variety of lighting around the home and one of the most common types of fittings. A bayonet bulb uses a twist and lock action to secure into the fitting and it’s also known as B22 bulbs. Screw base bulbs, also known as Edison bases or an E27 bulb, use a screw thread to secure it into the fitting. So it’s important to ensure the right bulb is chosen for the type of base being used.

Light Switches & Dimmers

Things to Consider before buying Fittings & Accessories  

• Purpose - This refers to what is done in a room and where the light needs to shine. In a kitchen, the eating and cooking area is usually the main focus. The kitchen may be lit overhead, over a table, over a sink, and even under the cabinets. Consider what best suits the environment. For special events like birthday parties, one may use colored light bulbs. Coloured light bulbs are a great party light feature with so many pieces to pick from. Outdoor light bulbs can be either decorative or practical. Consider how bright the light must be or what kind of atmosphere it needs to create?

• Maximum wattage - What is the maximum wattage that the fitting can contain? Fittings work hand in hand with bulb wattage limits. Going beyond the approved wattage limit can lead to a serious risk of fire and other damages.

• Bulb type -  Make a note of which bulb base is being used, either an E27 bulb or a bayonet bulb. Then also decide which type of bulb is going to be the most optimal; incandescent, halogen, fluorescent, xenon, or LED?

• Weight - Does the old fixture and the new fixture weigh about the same? If so great. It is important to pick a fixture that weighs about the same as the old one. If you do get a heavier one install a different junction box that can handle more strain. For ceiling fixtures, a heavier one may require additional fortification of the ceiling board and beams.

• Voltage - Most fixtures use 120 volts, but a few varieties including track lighting and under-cabinet lighting operate off low voltage (12 volts).  Generally, outdoor light bulbs for gardens and landscapes use low voltage. Outdoor light bulbs make it easy to enjoy the outdoors even when it is dark outside.
