Regular maintenance also includes thorough annual cleaning with a mild soap in lukewarm water and a soft brush. All branches and shrubbery should be trimmed away to prevent it from staining or damaging the fabric. Awning frames need to be checked regularly for rust that could lead to deterioration of the structure.
