Assembly Architects Limited is a New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA) Practice led by Registered Architects Justin Wright and Louise Wright. We provide Architect services from concept to completion for your new build or renovation project. We use the NZIA Agreement to Architect Services as the Agreement between client and Architect, and can administer the NZIA Standard Conditions of Contract between a Contractor and client. PREFABRICATION AND MODULAR

Justin Wright of Assembly Architects Limited has significant experience in the design of elements, panels, construction systems and structural systems for off-site prefabrication and on-site assembly.

• We assisted Stanley Group in the design development and documentation of the FastClass system, which followed the design and delivery of prefabricated classrooms for Catholic Schools.
• Stanley Group commissioned us to deliver prefab student accommodation bedroom pods for installation into a multistorey building (Base building by Warren & Mahoney).
• Also for Stanley Group we designed a building and cladding system for a 100 day project to deliver luxury retail at Britomart. [Concept plan by Cheshire Architects]
• For the Wellington Zoo Hub we designed an award winning custom aluminium permanent marquee structure for manufacture in a fire engine factory.

Louise Wright and Justin Wright are both New Zealand Registered Architects. Together they lead all projects and are personally involved from concept to completion. They bring different skills and experience to the project and are each others sounding board from the big idea to the finest detail. Louise and Justin studied at the Victoria University of Wellington School of Architecture. Both won scholarship exchanges to Rome, Italy with Penn State University, USA and graduated at Victoria with first class honours. Prior to establishing Assembly, Justin was a Director of New Work Studio Architects and Louise was an Associate at Athfield Architects in Wellington. Louise Wright is currently on the Registered Architects Board and the New Zealand Institute of Architects Awards Advisory Board.

The studio comprises a tight knit and talented team – Emma Schmitz, Marcus Kirk, Simon Khouri, Catarina Peeters and Matt Connolly, who together with Justin and Louise work in small teams to bring your design to life.

All projects begin with a conversation.  We listen to your ideas, inspiration and vision from your practical requirements to how the design should function and feel. We tell you about us, our service and address your questions about design, consents, time, quality, cost, and your engagement in the process.

We visit your site.  We undertake environmental research to assess the nature of the site – its sun, wind, views, topography, and its built context.  We also review the legal context such as covenant restrictions, consent notices, and conditions of consent to identify compliance constraints.

We form a design concept in response to the vision and function in consideration of the environment and constraints.  We communicate the design in various forms from pencil sketches through to photo realistic renders. All projects can be experienced in virtual reality, enabling you to walk through the design as it develops.  Near or far, we continue the conversation in person or online.

We develop the design with a strategy appropriate to your quality expectations.  We consider your preferences, and bring our love and knowledge of materials and structure, both tried and tested or innovative and new to your design.

We guide you to expertise in cost estimating and town planning to test the project feasibility for cost and resource consenting, to geotechnical and structural expertise for appropriate structural design, building science expertise for thermal performance, and to experts in landscape design and ecology.

We detail the design with technical research and rigour, and communicate with clarity for clients, contractors and consenting.  Our contracting procurement strategy matches contractors, contract type and contract administration appropriate to the scale and quality of the project and involvement.

The resulting architecture is reasoned, personalized, environmentally responsive and delivered to suit your quality and budget expectation.
