Beach Retreat
On a waterfront site in the Bay of Islands, five separate wings are located to reinforce the natural typography and create a sense of community around the central living area.
Three of the wings are cut deep into the hillside: one of them has the pasture rolling across the roof.
The central wing is identified by the elegant curves of a hyperbolic parabaloid roof which floats over the multiple living areas.

Bossley Architects is a multidisciplinary Architecture and Interior Design practice based in Tamaki Makaurau Auckland, creating architecture to lift the spirit. The practice is based on the belief that innovative yet practical design is essential for the production of good buildings and spaces, and that the best buildings spring from an open and enthusiastic collaboration between architect, client and consultants.
