The Centre for Innovation at the University of Otago is situated at the main entrance to the University. The building provides Offices and Specialist Laboratories for commercial tenants developing intellectual property generated in various departments of the University of Otago. The building is designed to express and to broadcast the linkage between the work of the University and commercial applications. Two distinct shrouded glass forms accommodate the mystery of Intellectual Property and Innovation, separated by a transparent glass Entry and Circulation Atrium on an axis aligned with the University Clock Tower.
Students and the people of Dunedin alike, have developed a genuine rapport with the building. It has become recognised as a local landmark and has been widely used as a backdrop for promotional images.
