Loft style and the beauty of luxe materials transform this gut renovation into an entertainer’s dream. Smart, flexible use of space enables this home to live larger than its footprint. Located on Boston’s “Gold Coast”, the once-dark apartment now glows with warm silky texture, reflective sheen and custom features. Walls are cocooned in woven metallic paper. Silk draperies dress the tall windows/balcony doors. New paneling and blue-veined marble clad the former brick fireplace.

Furnishings are modern and sculptural. The restored curved sectional with cantilevered seats has been upholstered in platinum velvet. An Eames lounge, Milo Baughman chrome swivel chair and Noguchi cocktail table join the conversation. Sculpture on pedestal, entitled “Crowd”, is by Weidman. New sliding doors delineate the main entertainment area while sharing light from adjoining windows.

A new wet bar with antique mirror backsplash reflects abstract art. Brass mesh doors seamlessly retract to reveal an espresso bar. Onyx slabs line the new open kitchen, garnished with a brass range hood and floating shelves. The eggplant-colored media room invites serious lounging with a pair of custom mossy velvet chaises that double as twin guest beds. The fluted armoire adds copious storage.
