Clyde Quay Apartment

Our jet-setting, nature-inspired client recently acquired a stunning harbour-side apartment, and requested our help in envisioning a space that captures his love of nature; from the forest to the sea. Drawing inspiration from these natural elements, we curated an earthy palette that seamlessly transitions from burnt umbers and brassy tones to lush greens, teals, and sulphuric yellows, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. Central to the design are custom-built joinery pieces for the living and media rooms. Inspired by the rugged, weather-hardy materials found in marinas, these elements are both functional and striking, crafted with care by talented local fabricators. The result is a clever, versatile space that effortlessly balances everyday comfort with the capacity to host visiting family, featuring a bespoke Murphy bed integrated into the design. Soft furnishings were thoughtfully sourced from some of New Zealand’s finest makers, chosen for their rich textures and plush comfort—key ingredients in crafting a space where our client can truly unwind. Organic accents, like an asymmetrical timber dining table and plush armchairs, bring a handcrafted warmth to the interiors. A custom rug in soothing swamp-green tones grounds the space, while carefully selected artworks by both local and international artists adorn the walls, adding layers of personality and vibrancy. This apartment is more than just a home—it's a beautifully curated retreat that celebrates nature’s diversity, creating a harmonious sanctuary for peaceful living and inspiring gathering.
