Thoughtfully designed rural home maximizing natural elements for enhanced functionality and breathtaking views.
We here at Designmax are passionate about rural home designs.
Unfortunately, something which is often overlooked when building on a rural site is how much emphasis natural elements affect daily functionality of a design.
Simple things like property access, prevailing wind, site contours, morning sun, afternoon sun, the view, all play a vital part in creating great home functionality in a rural location. Even other considerations like the potential location of future sheds, swimming pools or overall landscaping should all be incorporated in the initial design, but they are unfortunately often ignored.
Wind on a rural property is a lot more focused & directional, unlike an urban section where it is usually diffused and sporadic due to the proximity of other houses. Also, the view in an urban home is often limited to a timber paling fence and the neighbours bloomers on their washing line, where in contrast, some rural views are nothing less than frigin spectacular.
Rural home designs need to maximise this vista asset, yet at the same time, ensure that the prevailing wind result has a minimal affect on the overall functionality of the home.
A new home has a minimum lifespan of 50 years so what’s a few extra hours spent into creating a layout that can tick as many boxes as possible for the property it sits on, as well as the family that resides within!
