The initial requirement was for the new house to sit close to the roadside to take advantage of the best viewpoint of Omaha Beach. Most living would take place around the kitchen and dining area so initial planning revolved around this. The cornerless overwall sliding door system allows this space to become the equivalent of a covered deck or outdoor room. With this flexible space the deck could be reduced and allow the building to come forward further. To the west the main entertaining deck is also connected to the kitchen area. This area also achieves a visual connection to the sea view. Stacking sliding louvred panels provide protection from the westerly breeze and have been designed so panels can be taken around the corner to provide privacy from the street.

Overwall sliding doors sit behind chemically weathered steel panels. These panels are continued around the building as rain screens. The intent is to reinforce the dissolution of indoor outdoor boundaries. With all doors open the building appears as an open structure . The corner wall becomes a wide column.

The lounge area is open plan to the dining / kitchen area but steps down to allow a connection to the rear yard area. 2 stepped butterfly roofs float over the spaces. The master bedroom is located at the rear but maintains elevation to achieve secondary view to the south end of Omaha beach.

To maximise the upper floor RL yet comply with height and HIRB controls,  roof and membrane deck structures were carefully detailed to create minimal depth as possible.
