Sans-Arc Studio has masterfully crafted a space that resonates with the original Messina aesthetic, blending retro charm with mid-century modern elements. This design reflects an appreciation for the era’s distinctive style, appealing to both a new generation and those nostalgic for it.
Design Themes and Inspiration
An old workshop on an obtuse corner has been restored and refreshed to create this retro inspired Gelato shop. Utilizing the workshop’s existing openings, strategically placed windows enhance the shop’s design, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere. Retro materials such as timber panelling, terrazzo flooring, and bench seating were carefully chosen to introduce contrast, complemented by textured white walls both inside and out.
Super Collection Feature
The Messina storefront entrance features the sleek Associati pull in Polished Chrome, from the collaboration with Sans-Arc. The Associati pull, characterized by its minimalist aesthetic, embodies a serious yet imaginative approach, featuring pared-down elements depicted by a line and dot motif. More than just gelato, Messina is an immersive experience in design and taste, and this piece complements the retro design style embraced by the brand.
