Heritage Reimagined for Modern Hospitality
Repositioning a 160-year-old architectural icon for a modern era, The Hamilton Hotel presented a unique spatial challenge. With a long, narrow floor plan bisected by a main thoroughfare, we had to be intentional about how we connected the site's distinct spaces. To maintain visual connection, we kept the foundational finishes - the floors, ceilings and walls - consistent across the entire footprint. To further bridge the two sides, we introduced custom-designed, locally made brass wall lights that act as a distinctive, unifying feature. From there, we layered the personality back in, creating a relaxed, high-energy vibe in the Bar while giving the Bistro a more refined, upmarket feel. Bespoke furniture settings were designed throughout the venue, creating a versatile range of seating options that accommodate different guest experiences.
TRUNK Bosko smoked timber flooring was specified throughout, chosen for both its aesthetic and performance credentials. The smoked finish creates a rich tone that nods to the history of the building, while the colour running all the way through the oak ensures a lasting finish.
A special thanks to all the trades and suppliers involved in bringing The Hamilton Hotel to life. It takes many skilled hands to create a project of this scale and significance."
