The iconic Hawera Star building, owned by Excel Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Ltd, is now a bespoke state of the art administration hub.
Excel purchased the 120 year old heritage building from Stuff Media in 2016. It was leaky and earthquake-prone.
It required extensive remodelling. Rivet developed custom stainless steel benchtops as well as decorative brass and steel accents. Custom signage, created in surfaces with texture is a design point-of-difference that finishes off the space.
It is now a stunning earthquake safe example of modern automation which also preserves unique historical aspects such as the protected concrete frontage, decorative original ceilings, roof beams and visible printing press supports.
