Our Hillview project has been recognised in the Registered Master Builders House of the Year 2026 competition, winning a Regional Gold Award in the Southern region. The home was entered in the Resene New Home $2 million to $4 million category.
The house sits on an elevated site above Wānaka, looking across the Cardrona Valley towards Lake Wānaka and Mt Iron. It replaced an existing split level dwelling that had restricted the view, and was designed by Bespoke Architecture around a simple idea: a home shaped by view, family, privacy, climate and craft.
The result reflects the care taken through the design and construction process, together with the close working relationship between the clients, Bespoke Architecture and Bayview Construction. From the curved timber entry wall and cantilevered stair to the thermally isolated heated floor, each element required close coordination between architect and builder, and the finished home carries that attention quietly.
