Beachside Cedar + Aluminium Home banner

Fitzroy Beach, Taranaki. Overlooking the sand and surf with a long shot to Paritutu. The clients are looking to rebuild on the site with a five-bedroom house with generous living areas for entertaining. Two forms are approved, splitting living and sleeping and clad in different versions of the same weatherboard profile. Stained Cedar to the beachside, painted Pine to the neighbourhood. Aluminium window joinery to both, with overwall sliders to open up the living spaces to the horizon. Spotted Gum adds warmth to the floor, stairwell and kitchen, grounded below the angled ceiling lines. Three tiled bathrooms provide options for removing sand and day-to-day grime. Dark stained plywood to the entry recess and interior linkway add a bit of 'cool' to the bright white spaces. Timber battening at the front door, stairwell and link add texture and screening.
