Inset kitchen Mount Cook

A plywood kitchen with stainless steel benchtops, the ultimate in style and durability.
This heritage wooden villa in Mount Cook was completely renovated in 2020, keeping much of its original character. This kitchen was designed by PlyLab in collaboration with stannard architects limited, with some minor tweaks to the architects’ initial design. This plywood kitchen pairs beautifully with the native timbers. The rangehood was mounted in the ceiling, providing a cooking island with ample seating and work space.
The customer is a big fan of drawers, as are we. Drawers are more user friendly than cupboards, which have been avoided as much as possible. If you include the bins and the pantry drawers, this kitchen has a total of 25 drawers, including below the two sinks, providing ample storage for even the most decerning chef.
The microwave has found a spot in the cupboard next to the pantry, a vertical door provides easy access.
As all joinery is inset, the handles are placed on the horizontal stretchers in between the drawers, with the top drawers sharing the handle with the middle drawers, resulting in a clean, contemporary look.
