Designing the bathrooms at Kirsten’s Blairgowrie beach house was all about creating spaces that feel joyful, practical, and just a little unexpected. For me, it was about finding the right balance bringing in colour and fun while keeping things relaxed and functional for a holiday home. Those pink tiles set the tone straight away, playful, uplifting, and full of personality while the honey-yellow joinery softens things and adds a dreamy, calm vibe. To anchor all that colour, I went with herringbone pattern flooring: natural, textural, and a subtle nod to the sandy tones of the beach just outside. I carried the natural elements through to the details too: woven mirrors, rattan lighting, and tactile finishes that give the space warmth and character. Soft curves in the cabinetry tie it all together, making a bathroom that’s not just functional but genuinely an experience to enjoy. The result is a space that radiates pure joy, colourful, calming, and connected to the coast, just like the home it belongs to. – Joh Lyle, Siesta Homes
