Thoughtfully modernized 1970s home in Strowan, blending original features with contemporary design while enhancing comfort and functionality through double-glazed windows and a serene winter color palette.
The owner of this 1970s wanted to update many of the 80s interventions, such as the kitchen and tired drapery, as well as make practical improvements such as adding double-glazed window units. We found a balance that paid homage to the characteristics of the home and unearthing the original house plan which showed louvred kitchen joinery provided a starting point from which we could plan the interventions. The client's preference of a calm winter colour palette allowed the original woodwork to be restored and play its part in re-establishing the warmth of the home. Various exisiting treasured pieces were mixed with a few new contemporary ones to create a unique ground floor interior that can be kept cosy with full-length wool drapery.
