The design of Navigation Drive is a response to the challenges posed by the site, steep with no flat ground. The house is a 2 storey building where the upper floor cantilevers off the lower level up to a maximum of 7.5m.

The primary structure consists of a steel floor system supported by the masonry construction of the lower floor, while the walls and roof utilize structural insulated panels (SIPs). The steel structure forms the impressive cantilever allowing the house to sit above the sloping site, preventing the need for extensive excavation.
