A contemporary care facility at Nazareth House, blending historic elements with modern architecture, featuring 62 villas, 40 rest care beds, and a community center, completed in 2016 as part of the Christchurch Rebuild.
Following the devastating Christchurch earthquakes, the historic fences of Nazareth House have since been paired with a landmark contemporary care facility that reincarnates the damaged site's rich heritage. Completed in 2016, the Nazareth House site now accommodates a neighborhood of 62 villas, 40 rest care beds, 40 hospital beds and a large community centre within the care facility which is flanked by a chapel and convent. One of IKON’s largest contributions to the Christchurch Rebuild and the aged care sector, the design for this sprawling project required the development of a consistent and considered architectural language. The contemporary style applied across the precinct’s many buildings is accented with traditional yet timeless elements, acknowledging the site’s historic soul while ushering it into a new era.
