Background
Outside In Garden Rooms were approached by The Tower Nursery to build an outdoor classroom for their 2-3-year-old learners. The nursery boasts a large garden, so the children get plenty of outdoor playtime; therefore, bi-folding doors were essential. These doors enable the entire front of the building to open up and allow the children to fully enjoy the outdoor space.

However, with the doors being open more often than closed, installing a heating system that warms large volumes of air would have been inefficient.
The team at Outside In Garden Rooms are regular users of Herschel Infrared heating panels to heat their beautiful garden rooms. As such, they knew how well the sleek and space-saving infrared panels would work for the nursery space in terms of comfort, efficiency, sustainability and design.
Solution
Four Herschel Infrared heating panels were chosen to heat the open-plan indoor play space/kitchen area. They were specified in white to complement the clean and airy look and feel of the interior space, and being mounted on the ceiling, they are out of reach from the little ones and free up additional wall space.

Herschel Infrared panels are the perfect heating solution for a classroom that encourages children to explore their outdoor environment. Infrared heaters provide a more effective option to maintain comfort whilst allowing air to circulate from open windows.
Convective systems heat the air and hot air easily escapes through open doors. Infrared, on the other hand, is primarily radiant allowing people to benefit from the radiant effect which transfers heat directly to the fabric of the room and the people within it.
