Background
Pitter Potter Tenbury Wells is a paint-your-own-pottery studio based in a beautiful 18th-century listed building. The studio offers a relaxed, creative experience, however this means that customers remain seated for long periods, which became a problem during the winter months.
No central heating, large single-glazed windows, listed-building restrictions and a location prone to flooding all meant keeping the space warm was extremely difficult, and after two particularly cold Decembers, it was clear that a new heating solution was needed. Traditional systems failed to meet key requirements, as the studio needed one that didn’t rely on gas or insulation upgrades, aligned with its sustainability ethos, and allowed for precise, carefully managed temperatures within the studio.
Solution
After learning about infrared heating panels, the team contacted local electricians G.E Brights Ltd, who revealed that they were a registered supplier of our infrared heaters and subsequently pointed them in our direction. The Pitter Potter team then visited our showroom, where Sales Manager Jane provided a tailored consultation, carefully considering the studio’s unique building and usage needs.
Following efficient project management, a successful grant application and expert installation by G.E Brights Ltd, the studio was fitted with our British made Aspect XL indoor space heaters and Comfort infrared panel heaters, both of which are ceiling-mounted within the space.
The Aspect XL is perfect for the pottery studio as it is discreet and stylish; it features advanced ceramic emitters, enclosed in a sleek black body, which deliver powerful far infrared heat with a wide spread for maximum comfort. It’s available in four sizes from 650W to 2600W, meaning there is a size and power output perfect for every size of space.
Our Comfort is the most efficient infrared panel heater, offering fast warm up and high radiant heat output, and is ideal for low carbon, eco friendly heating, making it the perfect choice for this sustainability conscious pottery studio. Also available in varying sizes from 200W to 1200W, the Comfort is a versatile and reliable option.
The new system heats up quickly and provides a comfortable, natural feeling of warmth, ideal for both customers and staff. It is also app-controlled, allowing for remote operation.
The results have been transformative. The studio is now consistently warm, customers regularly comment on the improved comfort, and the discreet ceiling-mounted panels suit both the aesthetics and practical constraints of the building. The project delivered a sustainable, effective solution that finally brought the long-running heating challenge to a happy conclusion.

Our customers have been very vocal in praise of the nice warm studio.
We run a paint-your-own-pottery studio. It’s a brilliant business in every way, except for one thing; The nature of the business means that our customers sit on one place painting for hours at a time, and in winter, the 18th-century building gets a little… chilly. Its lack of central heating, listed-building status and gigantic windows mean that keeping it warm has been no mean feat! But after two Decembers spent freezing to death, we decided enough was enough. We explored a few different routes, but nothing ticked the most important boxes: A) a system that requires neither gas supply nor insulation. B) A more sustainable, eco-efficient option. And that was when someone mentioned infrared heating panels… Our local electricians, G.E Brights Ltd, revealed that they were a registered supplier for Herschel Infrared, and that we may want to look at Herschel’s sophisticated new heating method. So we booked a visit and made the journey to their showroom! We were greeted by Sales Manager Jane, who couldn’t have offered better service. She really took into consideration everything about our quirky, leaky old building, and thought about which infrared heaters would best suit the space.
Never once did we feel that we were being offered a ‘one size fits all’ solution, and we went away happy that we were finally on the right track. Five months, some efficient service, a grant application and a bit of expert fitting from our local electricians and we had a studio fully-equipped with state-of-the-art, made-in-Britain, infrared heating panels! Only recently have we had to call them into use, and the difference is unbelievable. The stylish panels are ceiling-mounted; ideal for our flood-prone town. They are easy to control via an app, and can even be turned on remotely (making going to work on frosty days far more appealing!) They warm up quickly, and offer a ‘healthy’ feeling heat - not the headache-inducing zap of fan heaters. Our customers have been very vocal in praise of the nice warm studio (and surprised, in the case of those who have been in previous years) We are delighted that ‘The Saga of Trying to Heat Pitter Potter’ has ended happily and - in keeping with our ethos - a bit more sustainably than the mainstream options.
