A small, mixed-use commercial building on a corner site. When you draw a line as an architect, there’s two sides — inside and outside. This project’s prominent position in an established historical area meant that the community experience of the building from the outside was an important factor in its design.

"I was having coffee with the owner one day and he said to me “you know, I’ve got this legacy, this parcel of land with stunning views — if it were you, what would you do with it?’ And I just sat in my studio, thinking about that."

"There's a lot of scrutiny when you do a corner building and a heritage site, but the locals loved it, Auckland Council were happy, the Urban Design Panel thought it was a great response to the corner."
