Copper Restoration on Auckland's Icon, Stardome.
COPPER a timeless metal. Celebrated for both its natural beauty, unmatched performance, and it’s superior corrosion resistance has made it one of our most widely used Architectural metals lasting centuries and worthy for use in the most striking and historical monuments.
Auckland's iconic STARDOME, is an Observatory & Planetarium for astronomical phenomena. After the devastating attack on the 56 year old Dome, almost 70% of the naturally Patinated Copper was stripped and stolen overnight.
The natural weathering was a symbol of its time and a reminder of many memories shared and reflected upon over the decades.
The striking newly applied Copper, with it's high recycled content supplied by Ambro Metals Ltd was installed with advanced traditional installation methods by IG Roofing. This has provided new life for the iconic dome with surface oxidization and weathering already setting in which will continue to evolve over many years to come.
Come explore our elaborate folio of Architectural metals best suited for your project and installed by the finest network of craftsman throughout New Zealand.
