The later rear extension of this beautiful colonial villa property had been completed in a way that did not compliment the era of the home and had been made with inferior techniques and materials that had lead to rot. The area had been difficult to heat and as it is lower than the rest of the house, cold air pooled there making it uncomfortable to stay in as it is an open-plan area.
We replaced the aluminium ranch slider with timber bi-fold doors, and replaced the windows with new double glazed sashes, replacing rotten facing boards and sills at the same time.
The result is a more comfortable ambient temperature, retaining the heat in the Winter months and allowing for good airflow in the Summer.
It is now an area that is comfortable to lounge in.
