By Accumen Shapes
Accumen was involved in a restoration project of historical significance that was completed in 2007. The purpose of preserving the Union Fish Company building is to retain intact the relics of the social and cultural history of early 20th century.
Located at 116-118 Quay St, Auckland, it is registered under the Historic Places Act (1993) with Category I status and was constructed in 1904-1906. The exterior of the building had been somewhat altered over time including the removal of the elegant and decorative parapet roofline.
Accumen created the decorative moulded detailing to match the original designs. They were then fixed to masonry pediments with stainless steel fixings and our TidyUp® adhesive plaster, which has been specifically formulated for installing mouldings to buildings. These beautifully restored buildings will never date and will always be cherished. Accumen’s directive was to create architectural details to replace the missing significant elements, thus contributing to the restoration of the original appearance of the building exterior.
